last Thursday (23/3/17) , I attended a class in Dewan Kuliah 1 , the class is share about how to GOVERNANCE . Puan Noraliza Abdul wahab is accountant and shareholder  at KNS creative sdn bhd . KNS creative sdn bhd is IKS ( INDUSTRI  KECIL SEDERHANA) run business of  Wood-based interior furniture . One point that she has mention is about keeping records . Record and keeping the record is important in a company , because it is useful  and  helps us as evidence . The importance of records: Relations with good or financial institutions, investors, creditors and tax affairs and to know the pricing of goods and financial position . Lastly , She also share the important about write it down record have been mentioned in Al-Quran Surah Al-Baqarah 282 :

O you who have believed, when you contract a debt for a specified term, write it down. And let a scribe write [it] between you in justice. Let no scribe refuse to write as Allah has taught him. So let him write and let the one who has the obligation dictate. And let him fear Allah , his Lord, and not leave anything out of it. But if the one who has the obligation is of limited understanding or weak or unable to dictate himself, then let his guardian dictate in justice. And bring to witness two witnesses from among your men. And if there are not two men [available], then a man and two women from those whom you accept as witnesses - so that if one of the women errs, then the other can remind her. And let not the witnesses refuse when they are called upon. And do not be [too] weary to write it, whether it is small or large, for its [specified] term. That is more just in the sight of Allah and stronger as evidence and more likely to prevent doubt between you, except when it is an immediate transaction which you conduct among yourselves. For [then] there is no blame upon you if you do not write it. And take witnesses when you conclude a contract. Let no scribe be harmed or any witness. For if you do so, indeed, it is [grave] disobedience in you. And fear Allah . And Allah teaches you. And Allah is Knowing of all things.

My handphone

Yesterday I don’t know what happen  to my handphone , it can not be used anymore  , the led screen turns to black  so I try to switch off  the phone  and then switch on back  , but also the same result it can’t be used anymore . This let me become very  sad , because there is a week away from the midterm break ,  so I need to endure until I go back to my hometown and repair  it , so from today until midterm break  I can not access the internet from handphone  so  no more “Whatsaap” , “ Instagram ”. But , no handphone to use  make me in hard situations because  I’m  relying on my handphone  everyday like alarm  . Whatsaap to get info and Google to access my ifolio . So I hope I can go back hometown soon and my phone can quickly fix it.

THE ROSE AMONGST THE THORNS , CIK ROZILAWATI TAN SRI HAJI BASIR

On 9 march 2017 , my friends  and I have attended to the public lecture at Dewan Canselor Tun Abdul Razak , UKM ,The vip on that day is CIK ROZILAWATI TAN SRI HAJI BASIR 

 She graduated from University of Hertfordshire,United Kingdom with a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degree in Law in 1994 and she pursued her study in Master of Bussiness Administration (MBA) in International Bussiness from University of Bristol, United Kingdom in 1999.

She created a vision of Nationwide Express “To be a premier  total Logistic Provider globally Providing Innovation in service with state of The Art Technology”. She talk about that we must have a vision to help ourselves and people surrounding.

According Cik Rozilawati , One of the role model of she is Tan Sri Mohammad Nur Ismail ,her father’s best friend. She learnt a lot from him about business. 

She wanna make innovation for Nationwide Express service by using a drone that can fly to deliver the item to customer and customer can get the item as soon as possible.

Besides that , she also share How to  become successful entrepreneur  and She maked the “my braveheart tree” that consist of :

 

1.      Believe . she adviced that we must not worry about ,just believe in ourself. Before planning ,we must look at our own goal.

lastly we need to be firm ,believe that we will make the differences, and Cik Rozilawati believes that be the leader not only that , but we also be the leader for people around us .

      "Building strong industry-Academia collaborations 

            for greater funding and less tuition fee-dependent"

Last week on 2 march 2017 , I have attended a global talk series by Prof. Chang Ching-Ray at bilik Senat Canselori UKM .The traditional model of higher education attraction based on ranking is no longer the only working model due to the changing demands of students and the industry . Universities are now gaining a concrete reputation for its proactive approaches , relevance and direct impacts to the stakeholders. What should a university do facing this new changes. The talk is share about NTU (NATIONAL TAIWAN UNIVERSITY) experiences and also some observations from other universities.

Prof Chang Ching -Ray are the Vice President of Administrative affairs, National Taiwan University. He received the B.S degree in Physics from National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan and also have received his phd. Degree in Physics from University of California, San Diego.He was invited to share with us on the very pertinent issues that are affecting Malaysian University. One is in Malaysian to stronger industry academic high. The other one is on funding issues and thirdly is issues regarding on experienced with National Taiwan University.

What is university ? Is a community of teachers and scholars . Based on Prof Chang, China pumps money into Higher Education a lot , Money can not do everything but without money university can not do anything .  Every year university spend a lot of money for expenses, greater funding and less tuition fee-dependent ? So it's impossible to sustain without fully supporting from government especially  . NTU at a glance , have 11 colleges , 3 professional schools in Asia , 54 department ,109 graduate institutes and 66 research centers . He also mention on  his talk about challenging issues such as human resources structure changes and after that he also show to us the financial strategy using slides. From the slides, we can see how they divided their financial into several parts strategically. So is very important every university have their own financial strategy to get for more income and budget savings .Example KONKUK UNIVERSITY KOREA produce their own food product to sell for get more income.

The talk also have mention about challenges and perspectives such as flagship university in Taiwan, cutting-edge and in disciplinary research, globalization and international competitiveness, cultivate leaders and emphasize social responsibility, ecosystem for innovation and entrepreneurship, a gateway  to Chinese culture and commitment to be “Great University”. Each university should have their own taste , just like different restaurant should have their own receipts . Every 5 year  NTU must evaluate professor performance and he also have talk about the problem when in organization  10 people at office and other 2 people didn't do anything .

 Besides that,he also have mention about collaboration , " If you want to go fast , go alone but if you want go far , go together " so we really needs friends to go far , so is important collaboration university between university . It is very difference 3 university and single university  , like Chinese story " three monks had no water to drink " one monk will shoulder two buckets of water, two monks will share the load, but add a third and no one will want to fetch water.

   Lastly ,Prof chang also have share the activities according NTU for example , NTUS forum with  Alibaba billionaire Jack Ma(马云与青年有约） , and (迎战VUCA 时代 , Are you ready )  do university together . VUCA is acronym used to describe or reflect on the volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity of general conditions and situations. According to Prof. Chang Ching-Ray, VUCA is you can do anything as your wish.
